An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted across a fence and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and barred from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control told Singaporean press.

Wen pushed beyond security and charged at the celebrity, who was attending the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

He has a background of disrupting concerts and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.

The event sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of causing further distress to the star.

The pop star has spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in Manchester in May 2017 killed 22 individuals and affected hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the authorities learned he had attempted to intrude on the movie's debut multiple times, according to regional reports.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and pinned him down.

Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Authorities detained him the following day and charged him with public nuisance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Presiding Judge the magistrate was referenced by media reports as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was mistaken to think he would not experience repercussions.

The actress has not commented on the situation.

The co-star discussed the incident to NBC, remarking that she "just wanted to make sure my co-star was safe."

"I'm sure he had no intention to us injury, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I aimed to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
