Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players after the uproar from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match subsequent to voicing frustrations and stating his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” he continued.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were never meant to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and on a positive run.”
