Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

The author

Acclaimed writer for children and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, according to an announcement.

An official for the company commented: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the decision was made after an investigation into claims about conduct deemed unsuitable involving young women.

The publisher did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "It is not our policy to discuss internal matters."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams stands as a most prolific writers for young readers, boasting over more than 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books in total, encompassing a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE in 2017 honoring his contributions to the charitable sector and arts community.

This move occurs subsequent to the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO in October.
