Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.
The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
