Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slam events this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in her final two events this season as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting next year's training.

These plans are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 for the first time in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way before losing in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
