Barça Ready for First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in domestic competition over two years since relocating for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a public practice inside the stadium in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
