A Mountain of Anime News Arrived During the Festive Season
The Christmas holidays present a multitude of pastimes far superior than catching up on the updates: unwrapping gifts, feasting on holiday treats, and using deep breathing to refrain from arguing with relatives. It is wished you managed to do all these things and more. However, the showbiz industry never sleeps, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. Numerous thrilling developments surfaced during the festive period, and just in case you overlooked a few, here is a compilation of the most exciting bits.
One-Punch Man Its Third Season Is Set to Continue (Come 2027)
Without a doubt the most surprising announcement, the notorious controversial season that was season 3 of One-Punch Man failed to deter further production. The show will be back with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they easily could have called it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be in charge. Thankfully this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the beginning, which could be taken as a hopeful indicator. However, the key visual for the continuation is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This makes me think that, nowadays, they must be teasing the fans.
The Ruri Dragon Series Is Set to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a standing for being an top-tier animation studio, making its mark not just for the superb artistry of its output but for the good working conditions of its employees—a sadly unusual standard in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had not adapted an anime stemming from a manga published in Shonen Jump, possibly the most iconic magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became a huge following when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a lengthy break due to the creator's health issues. When it returned with a more relaxed pace, the series proved it maintained the fans' appreciation and goodwill, and now everyone is ecstatic about the upcoming KyoAni adaptation.
Kingdom Its Sixth Season Will Get a Sequel Currently in Production
Kingdom is the best-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English release, but the anime has been going on for a while, and season 6 was yet another outstanding entry. Apparently that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will almost certainly debut in 2026.
Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
One more studio famous for the artistic merit of its projects, Science Saru has brought us hit shows of the ilk of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the real historical figure of Fatima, an prominent woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and captivating visual style, which reminds me a bit of Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will without a doubt be on my must-watch list.
The Tougen Anki Series Will Return With a Second Season
Shortly after the conclusion of episode 24, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be securing a follow-up. Based on the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will delve into the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm release date has not yet been announced.
